Riptide

Riptide is a Rapid-Fire Frame Stasis Fusion Rifle that drops from the Crucible playlist, including Iron Banner. It was released during Season 17 and if you’ve played much Crucible you’re likely drowning in these (in more than one game I’ve gotten double drops). That’s for the best because the perk pool is massive, featuring twelve possibilities in the final two columns.

Riptide lands with several interesting new perks from Witch Queen (S16) and S17: Well-Rounded, Compulsive Reloader and Successful Warm-Up to name a few. Of interest to many is the fact that it rolls with Chill Clip, exclusive to Stasis weapons and a great pick for PvE.

For the PvE rolls, I chose to prioritize Recoil and Stability instead of Range. With Rapid-Fires shooting so quickly, I value a tighter, more consistent spread. Really though, it’s the final two columns that you’re looking for, and given the breadth of the perk pool if you find a pair of perks that works, you’re largely safe to ignore everything else.

Rapid-Fires are tricky in PvP. They are very short-range weapons; you’re not mapping anyone the way you might with an Erentil. You want to play to their strengths - terrific damage potential with very little charge time at nearly double consistent OHK ranges for shotguns.

🌊 High Tide (Aggressive) (pvp)

Successful Warm-Up is terrific on Rapid-Fire Frames, making it feel practically like a Mythoclast. This roll is focused more on what happens after that first takedown.
